Job Description
The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization with
roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses.
These endeavors have been around for centuries and will continue to be a
vital part of the global economy. We currently have a Regional
Purchasing Manager position open to support our Moses Lake and Othello,
WA plants.
Overview:
This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the
purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and issuance of all material,
supplies and services needed to operate both the Moses Lake/Othello
facilities. These activities are accomplished at the lowest cost
consistent with quality, service requirements and overall operational
goals. This position is also responsible for vendor solicitation,
screening and selection, for maintaining the proper inventory levels of
all MRO as well as production material’s. For assuring that items
purchased are of suitable quality and shipped, stored, and issued in a
cost effective manner. Records maintenance and appropriate
policy/procedure development and revision are inherent responsibilities.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
 |
Basic
knowledge of parts and materials. |
 |
Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
and familiarity with working in databases, and operating and
inventory systems. JDE experience preferred. |

Understand the computerized purchasing, inventory and maintenance
systems. |
 |
Have
knowledge of contracts and purchasing in the private sector.

 |
Communication skills, both written and verbal are critical.
|
 |
Management skills to include, but not limited to leadership,
coaching, participative management, development of subordinates,
goal setting controlling, self development and decision making.
|
 |
Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and parts
manuals. |
 |
Ability to write reports and correspondence. |
 |
Ability to understand and apply accounting skills, such as
calculating figures and amounts, discounts, interest, percents, area
and volumes, able to read financial statements and understand the
Chart of Accounts. |
 |
Ability to understand, complete, and give instructions in written,
oral, or diagram form. |
 |
Ability to work with vendors and suppliers, to negotiate the best
possible terms, in the most effective manner. |
 |
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to supervise employees and deal with personnel issues on a
24 hour/7 day a week basis. |
 |
Ability to manage complex projects up and down the supply chain.

 |
Ability to manage data and analyze trends for optimum efficiencies.
|
 |
Working knowledge of contracting principals and concepts (i.e.
contract formation and administration principals). |
Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from four-year college or university.
Five plus years related experience and/or training.
CPM / CPIM is preferred
